19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

Success also signifies he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

His retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
